Meet our Governors

Lucy Wiles

Lucy Wiles

I have been a governor since 2012 and the Chair for just over 3 years.   As an ex-pupil myself (many moons ago!), I am extremely passionate about GPS, I enjoy seeing the school thrive and seeing how loved and important it is to the children that attend it.  As the longest standing governor, I remember with sadness how the school was underachieving in 2012.  To see the progression that the school has made, the drive that the Senior Leadership Team and staff have, is something very special to witness.  This experience of seeing the school go from an Ofsted rating “Special measures” to the last inspection when they were rated “Good” helps continue my role of  “critical friend”.

I have been a parent governor since 2016 and both my children have moved through Glenfield Primary. I work part-time as a primary school teacher and decided that I had the time and expertise to be able to support the school. Being a governor is both rewarding and enjoyable and I am proud to be part of such a fantastic school.

Nathan Squires

My name is Nathan Squires and I am the new teacher governor at Glenfield Primary School. At school, I am the Head of the Speech and Language Provision and I am passionate about ensuring that all pupils develop  communication skills  to enable them to become well-rounded and confident individuals. My favourite subjects to teach are English and PE. I believe that all classrooms should be rich in language and allow pupils to express themselves. Outside of work, I enjoy watching football and playing golf. I am also a keen runner; completing my second London Marathon in April.

I joined the governing body in January 2023 as a parent governor. Both of my children attend Glenfield Primary School. I have over 10 years of experience in Higher Education so aim to use my transferable skills to help support the school and to make sure our children’s needs are met both academically and socially.

"I have recently joined the governing body as a parent governor. I have a son at the school and felt like I wanted to give something back.

I work within Child Safeguarding and feel I have a lot of relevant experience and knowledge that I can bring to the role. I am looking forward to the challenge of being a governor and contributing to the ongoing success of the school."

I became a Community Governor in 2017 after highlighting my interest with the trust and attending an interview with three members of the trust and Local Governing Body. I work as a teacher within Leicester and I therefore feel I have the knowledge and skills to work alongside and help support the school. I have two daughters who both attend Glenfield Primary.

 Matt Bowyer

I was born and raised in Glenfield, and now own a business here, so I wanted to give something back to the school and local community. As a person I believe I am creative, focused and can offer good ideas with a methodical solution to any problem that arises. I can support a team, listen to others and help to adapt those ideas and implement them to my best ability.

I joined the school’s governing body as a parent governor in January 2021.  My children attend the school  and I was a student myself at Glenfield Primary.

I work for the Local Authority as a Senior Transport Analyst and am Head of the Transport Planning Apprenticeship Scheme.  I am excited to take on this new role and believe the skills and knowledge I bring will add value to the governing body as a whole.
