September 2025 update
Year 2 children in PE have enjoyed developing their fundamental movement skills through fun, active games and activities. They practiced running, jumping, hopping, skipping, and balancing, which will help them to build coordination, strength, and confidence.
Working both individually and in small groups, the children explored different ways of moving their bodies and began to apply these skills in simple team games.
These activities not only supported their physical development but also encouraged teamwork, resilience, and a positive attitude towards keeping active.

October 2025 update
We have now completed our computing topic, route explorers.
As part of the topic, the children have been rediscovering algorithms and commands to move characters to their destination along a chosen route. We were so impressed at how quickly the children were able to use their direction commands to get to their end destination.
It was wonderful to see all the children engaged and succeeding during the lessons. They enjoyed the challenge of writing more complex algorithms with multiple commands.
We think we may have some budding computing wonders in our midst!

November 2025 update
In year 2, we were joined by a very exciting visitor from the past. Thomas Farriner travelled from 1666 to tell us all about the Great Fire of London.
The children enjoyed listening to the story about how it started and acting out key parts of the great event. They did a fantastic job using their bodies to create images from the Bakery on Pudding Lane where it all began, to the very end when the fire died down 4 days later.
We learnt about how the fire was able to spread so easily and tested our singing abilities with a beautiful rendition of ‘London’s burning’. We were then joined by Samuel Pepys who told us all about his diary and how it was
the reason we knew so much about the Fire.
Miss Johnson and Miss Kaur were very impressed with the children’s enthusiasm and respect throughout the session. Well done year 2!

December 2025 update
Year 2 performed their Christmas songs for their parents. They have worked hard to learn 5 songs as well as a short poem. Their singing was beautiful and filled the room with Christmas spirit.
We all certainly felt much jollier and more festive afterwards. This year Glenfield, next the West End! Well done year 2 for doing such a great job!

January 2026 update
A very strange thing happened in year 2. All of the chairs quit!
The children came in to stacks of chairs covered in tape and signs explaining why they were quitting. The children had to use their inference skills to work out how the chairs were feeling and what we could do to make it better.
We had a great time exploring why the chairs quit and used some super vocabulary to describe their emotions.
Luckily, the chairs forgave us and came back to our tables. Phew!

March 2026 update
On Wednesday, year 2 went on a fantastic trip to Twycross zoo. All of the children had a great day and saw lots of animals. We even got to see a brand-new baby pileated gibbon in the Gibbon Forest! The children had such a wonderful day looking at all of the animals. Don’t just take our word for it, here is what some children had to say about their day out…
Kai – My favourite part of the day was seeing the baby monkey.
Jessica – I really liked the baby meerkats because they were so cute.
