September 2026 update

It has been a busy and exciting start to Year 1, with lots of new learning and new experiences!
We have begun our Enquiry: 'Is new always best?', by exploring how toys and transport have changed over time.
In Science, we've been researching materials used to make objects and how these have developed to make them more suitable for their purpose. For example, we found that Victorian toys were often made from wood, while metal was later used to create moving parts and mechanisms. Today, many toys are made from colourful, durable plastic and use batteries and electronics to make them move and work.
We've also been lucky enough to take part in an 'Old Toys' workshop this week, exploring and playing with old toys and participating in games that children in Victorian times used to play. It was great fun and we showed real curiosity by asking thoughtful questions linked to our learning.
