September 2025 update
Year 5 pupils recently carried out an exciting science experiment exploring substances, mixtures, and solubility. The class investigated how different materials, such as sugar, salt, coffee and pepper, behaved when mixed with water.
Working in groups, the children predicted which substances would dissolve and which would remain visible. They carefully measured, stirred, and recorded their results, discovering that some substances form solutions while others create mixtures that can be separated.
The experiment sparked curiosity and teamwork, with pupils discussing reallife examples like salt in the sea or sugar in tea. Their findings made science both fun and practical!

October 2025 update
In Computing, the children have been having an amazing time planning and designing their
own 2D and 3D digital games!
They started by dreaming up exciting storylines—complete with baddies to defeat, coins and power-ups to collect, and even spooky Halloween themes!
Using coding and design tools, the children have built colourful worlds, animated characters, and tricky challenges to keep players on their toes. Their creativity, enthusiasm, and problem-solving skills have been fantastic to see. Well done, Year 5 - future game designers in the making!

November 2025 update
Year 5 took part in a fun and energetic anti-bullying workshop, using the acronym GROW to learn positive ways to build respectful relationships. Working in teams, the children even used their bodies to create each letter of the acronym, filling the room with laughter and creativity.
Through games, discussions and plenty of teamwork, they explored how to Give respect, Respond thoughtfully, Own their actions, and Work together to make our school a supportive, friendly place.
The workshop empowered students to recognise bullying, stand up for themselves and others, and help build a kinder community for all.

January 2026 update
Year 5 have blasted off into our brand-new science topic: Space! The children have been exploring the universe and discovering all the amazing things inside it - planets, stars, and galaxies galore! They have been learning about the heliocentric model, finding out how planets orbit the Sun and how everything moves in our solar system. To show their understanding, the children even used drama to act out the solar system, taking on the roles of planets and the Sun to bring the motions of space to life. The children have loved imagining the vastness of the universe,
thinking about distant worlds, and dreaming about what might be out there beyond our own planet!

February 2026 update
In History this term, our Year 4 children have been travelling back in time to explore the fascinating city of Ancient Baghdad 🏛️. They learned that over a thousand years ago, Baghdad was one of the greatest cities in the world 🌍 and a centre of knowledge, trade and new ideas . The children were especially interested to discover that the city
was carefully designed in a circular shape, with strong, high walls to protect it 🧱 and four grand gates placed at different points around the city 🚪. To bring their learning to life, the children worked enthusiastically to create their own clay models of Ancient Baghdad. They carefully shaped the round city walls, added the four impressive gates and included important buildings in the centre. The children showed wonderful teamwork, creativity and attention to detail as they thought about how the city would have looked and why it was designed in that way 🤝. It was fantastic to see their historical knowledge combined with their artistic skills - we are sure the Caliph would have been very impressed!
